Coordinates / numbers / labels for grids
Option to automatically add labels to the left hand column and bottom row, to allow for easy cell reference via coordinates E.g. the bottom row would have A B C D... And the left column 1 2 3 ... Etc

The grid's layer level can no longer be changed
I'm not sure if this counts as a bug or a new feature, but so far as I've been able to tell you can no longer change the layer the grid is on as of Inkarnate 2.0. This was a really useful feature for battlemaps, as I could layer the grid over all of the stamps and easily track movement.

Coordinates on grid
It'll be nice to have automatic tool that populates coordinates (A, B, C on X axis and 1, 2, 3 on Y axis), like in spreadsheets. It'll help to create map legends if you don't like polluting your map with labels

Create Hex Grids with correct dimension on map creation
Currently there is no way to create a hex grid map with certain dimensions, especially decimal dimensions. for example, a 19.2x16 hex grid map is not possible to create. You need to create in in square grid dimensions then resize. even so, it does not allow decimal grid specificity

Rotatable Grid
An option to rotate the grid similar to how we can rotate textures. This would be particularly useful with square grids. Depending on the scene I am trying to make, I often make battlemaps at an angle instead of parallel to the map edge; and I like the grid to line up with my scene rather than the map borders. If I have the time, I have used the Path tool to make a custom grid. The attached image includes a custom grid I made this way in Inkarnate. But I would love there to be a built-in way to do with with the grid tool. (its takes a lot of time to make this custom grid).

Hex coordinates
It would be great if it could automatically populate hex coordinates onto the map itself for reference while world-building.

Expand grid size limits for larger, detailed maps
I’m currently creating a large map and using hex grids to manage travel distances. However, the current grid size limit of 256x162 is too restrictive for my needs. While increasing the map size could technically accommodate larger grids, doing so introduces significant performance issues when rendering at 8K resolution. Proposed Solution: Allow larger grid sizes independent of map dimensions, enabling larger grid sizes without compromising memory or rendering efficiency. This feature would enhance usability for creators working on complex, large-scale maps.

Nested Grids
Would love the ability to create multiple grid layers of different sizes. 5e travel rules dictate hex sizes for certain map scales (60 mi / 6 mi / 1 mi) and it's useful to be able to show smaller hexes within the larger ones. Currently to display multiple grid layers, I have to trace over them using the path tool, which is extremely time consuming. The option for multiple grid layers could make detailed hexmaps doable in a matter of seconds or minutes, rather than hours and days.
